The bond is essentially an agreement between the bondsman, the court, and the defendant, where the bondsman assures the court that the defendant will appear for their court dates. In exchange, the defendant or their family pays a fee, typically a percentage of the total bail amount, to the bondsman. If the defendant fails to appear in court, the bondsman is responsible for paying the full bail amount to the court.
